Walmart Seasonal Jobs in 2026: Posted Now, No Drive Yet

Walmart seasonal jobs are posted right now, but Walmart hasn’t announced a 2026 holiday hiring drive. On October 23, 2026, its careers site listed Seasonal Team Associate jobs in stores and eCom Seasonal Warehouse Worker jobs at a fulfillment center, while its October 7, 2026 holiday release said nothing about hiring.

Walmart’s careers site and newsroom supply the facts, read on October 23, 2026. Reddit replies from four threads appear as reports, since store practice varies. Their upvote counts are archive snapshots that may differ today.

I interviewed job seekers at Walmart, so I read a posting the way you should: job type first, shift window second, pay band last.

Does Walmart have a holiday hiring drive in 2026?

Walmart hasn’t announced a 2026 holiday hiring drive that I could find. Its October 7, 2026 holiday release covers Express Pickup, delivery options and stores closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. It has no line on hiring, seasonal work or extra hours.

The latest hiring wording comes from the September 19, 2024 holiday release. Walmart “has also been hiring associates throughout the year and will first offer additional hours to current associates where needed.” No headcount came with it.

In 2022 the wording was bigger. On September 21, Walmart planned “approximately 40,000 additional associates in a variety of seasonal and full-time roles.” It said it would begin “by offering additional hours to current associates who want them,” and only then offer temporary work to people who want extra money.

On September 23, 2020, Walmart had said it would hire more than 20,000 seasonal associates for its eCommerce fulfillment centers.

Four dated Walmart newsroom releases: 20,000-plus seasonal associates in 2020, about 40,000 additional associates in 2022, no headcount in 2024 and no hiring mention on October 7, 2026

What does that sequence mean for you? Since 2022, Walmart’s own wording puts current associates first for extra hours. A seasonal opening therefore sits on whatever hours they don’t absorb. That’s my reading, not a Walmart statement, and it explains how a posting can exist while no drive is announced.

Stores differ on whether they bring in temporary help at all. One older r/walmart reply, from December 2019, said its store hired no temps while a relative’s store hired a few. Want to compare Walmart with other employers? Our seasonal jobs hiring comparison sets the retailers side by side.

Seasonal is a department as well as a job type

On a Walmart store posting, “seasonal” can name the department that handles seasonal merchandise. It can also mark a job as temporary. The type line on the posting tells you which one you’re reading.

The Seasonal Team Associate posting describes moving “the majority of seasonal merchandise throughout the store.” The type line differs by store. Greenville, Pennsylvania prints “Temporary,” while Austin, Texas prints “Employment type may vary.”

Someone offered a “seasonal stocker” job asked in r/WalmartEmployees whether it was actually seasonal, because the posting didn’t say temporary. One reply in April 2026 (2 upvotes) answered:

“Seasonal is the department name.”
– r/WalmartEmployees, April 2026 (2 upvotes)

That’s one reply, and the Greenville posting shows the type line can say Temporary. So read the line on the posting you apply to. Then ask the store before you accept.

Store and warehouse seasonal postings, side by side

Walmart’s careers site showed two kinds of seasonal job on October 23, 2026. Store postings printed pay bands from $14.00 to $30.00 an hour, and the four warehouse postings I saw printed single rates from $21.55 to $24.05.

If you wantPosting I readPay printedTerms printed

A warehouse jobeCom Seasonal Warehouse Worker, Atlanta GA$21.55 an hourTemporary, full time; 18 or older

The first ten results for “seasonal” on the careers site were all Seasonal Team Associate jobs. They sat in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut and Kentucky. The page showed 4,939 open roles for the word, but the last results page lists vision center managers and power washing technicians. So that total counts any posting that mentions “seasonal.” It isn’t a count of seasonal jobs.

The Atlanta warehouse page showed 928 open positions. Its text calls the work “very physically demanding” and says you’ll be “lifting heavy cases in extreme climates.” It also lists clerical roles, so confirm which duties you’re applying for. Three related postings listed on that page printed $22.15 in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, $24.05 in Pedricktown, New Jersey and $21.55 in Carrollton, Georgia.

A separate October 8, 2026 release says the new Stockton, California fulfillment center “will create more than 1,000 jobs.” It also says Walmart is “continuing to hire a variety of positions,” but it doesn’t call them seasonal.

What does a store seasonal job involve? The Austin posting lists stocking shelves, helping at checkout when needed and a line to “walk up to 5 miles each day while fulfilling online customer orders.”

Applying for Walmart seasonal jobs, and the 30-day rule

Apply on Walmart’s careers site: search “seasonal,” open a posting, check its type and shift lines, then apply. Walmart’s How we hire page says a resume isn’t required and a first application takes about 20 to 25 minutes.

  1. Open a posting and read the type line, the shift start window and the pay band before anything else.
  2. Look for a “Future opening” label. Walmart’s wording is that if the role opens in the next 30 days, your application will be submitted, and after 30 days you must renew it.
  3. Finish every field before you submit, because Walmart says you can’t change an application afterward. Hourly applications can be saved as drafts.
  4. Expect an assessment for some jobs. Our Walmart assessment test guide walks through the scenario questions.
  5. Wait. Walmart says it tries to respond within a week, and an hourly application stays in its system for 60 days.

If a store calls you in, our Walmart interview guide covers what you’ll be asked. Our Walmart background check breakdown puts seasonal holiday hires through the same stage as everyone else, normally after a conditional offer.

Two habits help, and both are my advice, not Walmart rules. Apply to several postings near you in one sitting, since the results list has a Select button on each posting and a bar that applies to the ones you’ve picked. Then state the evenings, weekends and holiday shifts you can really work. Walmart’s wording puts current associates first, so open hours are what a new hire adds.

Pay, hours and benefits on the postings

Walmart seasonal postings print pay as a band or a flat rate, a job type and shift start windows. Store ones print no weekly hours. The actual hourly rate, the postings say, “will equal or exceed the required minimum wage” for the location.

Don’t read the top of a band as your offer. Our Walmart starting pay breakdown puts most store starting pay at $14 to $19 an hour. The postings also say premiums from $0.35 to $3.00 an hour “may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed.”

Hours are the soft spot. The Atlanta warehouse posting says full time. The store postings say only “Multiple shifts” and shift start windows. A November 2023 reply in r/walmart (1 upvote), about a holiday-week schedule, puts the risk this way:

“Hours per week is just a request, and business need can override availability. Holidays, especially, can be times for exceptions.”
– r/walmart, November 2023 (1 upvote)

It’s one person’s report about one store. Even so, it’s a fair reason to ask how many hours you’ll get before you accept.

The postings list health, financial and paid time off benefits, plus “company discounts.” They then add that eligibility “may depend on your job classification and length of employment.” They say Live Better U is for “full-time and part-time associates.” Neither posting says whether a temporary hire gets the discount card, so ask. Our Walmart employee discount page explains what the card covers for regular associates.

Can a Walmart seasonal job turn permanent?

A Walmart seasonal job can sometimes turn permanent, but Walmart publishes no 2026 conversion rate. The only official wording I found is from September 23, 2020, when it said that “in many instances” its eCommerce fulfillment center seasonal positions would have “the opportunity to convert to regular employment.”

Reports mix hope and warning. In an October 2023 r/walmart thread titled “Seasonal Hiring,” one reply (1 upvote) says:

“I was hired on as a temp during COVID and converted to full time permanent a few months later. It’s definitely possible to stay on, but not guaranteed. It will depend on how well you do your job and whether or not they have the budgeted hours to justify your continued employment.”
– r/walmart, October 2023 (1 upvote)

Another reply in the same thread says “You get laid off, usually around January.” Both are reports from one thread. The 2020 line was written for a different hiring program, so none of them predicts what your store will do.

The end can come abruptly. In a September 2026 r/walmart post titled “End of seasonal” (285 upvotes), a pallet receiver at a Walmart fulfillment center wrote that “they got rid of most of us.” One reply (95 upvotes) described the notice:

“What’s crazy is they waited til 10 minutes before my last shift to send the email out. Glad to know it’s not just me though as far as the email. Lowkey I cried immediately when they told me I had 2 weeks left. Totally understand why there are 3 boxes of Kleenex in the HR office. Can’t believe some people got a few days of notice, was super sad for them man…”
– r/walmart, September 2026 (95 upvotes)

That’s one facility, and upvote counts are a snapshot. Still, it’s a reason to ask your hiring manager, before you accept, when the role is expected to end and how much notice you’ll get.

What can you control? Show up for your scheduled shifts, cover a shift when you can, and tell your manager early that you want to stay on. That’s my advice, not a Walmart rule, and a store with no budgeted hours can’t act on it.

Walmart seasonal jobs FAQ

Does Walmart hire seasonal workers?

Yes: on October 23, 2026, Walmart’s careers site listed Seasonal Team Associate store jobs and eCom Seasonal Warehouse Worker jobs. Some store postings carried a “Future opening” label, and Walmart hasn’t announced a 2026 holiday hiring drive.

When does Walmart start hiring for the holidays?

Walmart doesn’t publish a start date for holiday jobs, and seasonal postings were already live on October 23, 2026. Its past holiday releases ran on September 23, 2020, September 21, 2022 and September 19, 2024. The 2026 holiday release came out on October 7.

How much do Walmart seasonal workers make?

On October 23, 2026, store seasonal postings printed bands from $14.00 to $30.00 an hour, and the four warehouse postings I saw printed $21.55 to $24.05. Walmart says the actual rate will equal or exceed the local minimum wage.

Can a Walmart seasonal job become permanent?

Sometimes, with no promise. Walmart’s 2020 release said “in many instances” eCommerce fulfillment center seasonal positions could convert, and it has published no 2026 rate. Reports in one October 2023 thread run from staying on to a January layoff.

How long does a seasonal job last at Walmart?

The postings I read print no end date. Walmart’s 2020 release said its seasonal fulfillment center jobs would continue through January 1, 2021. One October 2023 reply reports layoffs around January, and a September 2026 r/walmart post from a fulfillment center reports most seasonal pallet receivers being let go that month, some with only days of notice.

How old do you have to be to work seasonal at Walmart?

The eCom Seasonal Warehouse Worker posting says “Must be at least 18 years old.” The store Seasonal Team Associate postings I read print no minimum age, so check the age line on your posting and ask the store when it’s blank.
