Talent Plus Interview Questions and Answers
Talent Plus is definitely on the top of the list when it comes to recognizing your talents. There is a reason why many Fortune 500 corporations hire this consultancy to help them in the recruitment process.
The interview is unlike any other–phone call (or video call), many questions in quick succession, no time to think, and your spontaneous reactions. I honestly believe it is a great way of interviewing people, and it definitely reveals a lot about you. But the question is: Can you really prepare for this type of an interview? Or is it just to good that either you have it or you don’t, either you make it or you don’t? Well, I believe you can prepare. At least to some extent :).
Knowing the questions and the key principles to ace this interview will help you alleviate stress, and show your best side while speaking to the recruiters from Talent Plus. and maybe also give the right answer to the questions that actually have the right answer–because not all of them do with Talent Plus… Let’s have a look at some questions right now!
Questions you will likely face in the Talent Plus interview
Q1: Do you consider yourself a hardworking person?
Hint: It is always good to say that you love to work hard, that you would struggle to find purpose and happiness in work unless you knew you were trying. At the same time, try to keep your answer authentic. You can point out a crisis of motivation, or to a period when (for one reason or another), you just couldn’t give your best.
Sample answer
I try to deliver my best in work every day, but just like everyone else, I experience low days, and moments when I struggle with motivation. Understanding why we do what we do in the company, and what is my role in it, helps me to get over my crisis. And I do not want to let my colleagues down–which also helps with motivation.
Q 2: On a scale from 1 to 10, how would you rate your ability to teamwork?
Hint: You should not give yourself a perfect ten, since nobody is a perfect team player. Try to add something else to your answer, describing how you try your best to understand other team members, and work with them. As always, your attitude matters the most.
Sample answer
I would give myself 8 points. I always try to be a good listener and act friendly to other people in the team. And of course I take care of my duties. However, sometimes it is hard to get along with someone else, or achieve consensus in the team. That’s something we have to count with.
Q 3: Do you like to sell things?
Hint: In 95% of all positions Talent Plus interviews people for, selling plays an important role, or at least some role. You won’t always sell a product, or a service, but you will still have to sell your ideas to other team members, bosses, subordinates, and so on. Tell them that you like selling, but you
can point out that you can always improve on your skills.
Sample answer
I like to sell products and ideas I believe in, but I know I can still get better in professional selling. On the other hand, I’d never sell something that I considered bad for the customer or unethical (show the right attitude by adding this short comment).
Q 4: Do you like to work overtime?
Hint: This is a test of authenticity of your answers in the interview. Obviously, nobody likes to work overtime, so do not say that you like it. What you can (and perhaps even should) say, however, is that you can push hard sometimes, and stay in work longer, when the situation requires it. It is good to show them that you can do something outside of your comfort zone for the benefit of the company.
Sample answer
I do not like to work overtime, but I understand that sometimes we need to step out of our comfort zone, and do something extra for our employer, or for our colleagues. And I am ready to do that, at least from time to time.
Q 5: Do you prefer to work alone in the office or do you prefer to work in an open office environment?
Hint: Most jobs Talent Plus interviews for are open-office jobs. Following the common sense, you should say that you enjoy open office, or at least that you do not mind this concept of a shared workspace. You can add that you can focus on your work even in a loud office environment, that it does not bother you.
Sample answer
I like the shared workplace. It motivates me to see other guys working, and it is also easier to talk to other team members when we all share one office. Nevertheless, I am good in isolating myself from outside distractions, and spend a quality alone-time, working on my tasks and projects. It doesn’t matter if I work alone in my office, or in an open environment, surrounded by other people and computers.
Difficult, or easy?
It was quite easy so far, wasn’t it? It was easy because you saw the hints and sample answers. Let’s try to answer the following questions, without my help (it’s all from the list from the questions Talent Plus may use in their phone and video interviews):
- Why did you leave your last job?
- What do you consider your greatest weakness?
- Are you an honest person?
- What was the last thing you have sold?
- Do you like to work under pressure?
- Do you have a tendency to feel stress in work?
- What you didn’t like about your last job?
- When was the last time when you felt stressed in the job?
- Do you think that you are an organized person?
- When was the last time you came late for work?
- Why did you come late?
- If there was one thing you could improve about yourself, what would it be?
- What is your opinion about current economic climate?
- Do you like to talk to people?
- Do you often have conflicts with your colleagues?
- Is there any group of people you prefer to talk to?
- Do you like to socialize?
- Do you prefer to lead, or to be led?
- Do you consider yourself as an assertive person?
- How would you handle the communication with a drunk customer?
- What would you do if the sales were down?
- Do you consider yourself a creative person?
- What would you do if you struggled with motivation in work?
- ………..
It isn’t so easy, is it? Especially when the question follow in a quick succession, one after another, and when many of them inquire about the same thing, just in a slightly different way… The experience can be incredibly stressful, and you have just one chance to succeed. If you want to maximize your chances, or simply feel like you’d benefit from a bit of extra help, here is what I have for you:
I wanted to write a book you can finish in an hour or two, and at the same time get ready for your interview. In my opinion, less is more in this case. Do not expect any fancy pictures or info-graphics in this book. Secondary information is omitted. Those things may grab your attention, but they won’t help you pass the interview. They would actually take your attention away from the few crucial things that matter. The eBook has 7,000 words (definitely something you can manage in an hour or two), and two principal sections:
- Seven principles of succeeding in an interview with Talent Plus.
- Questions they will ask you, and how you should answer each question (sample answers included, 30 questions in total).
The five questions at the beginning of this article are from the eBook. You will find 30 in the book, and the 7 winning principles.
